Visit with representatives of the Chinese Community

On Friday 13 of May, I met with a delegation of representatives of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office, as well as leaders of the local Chinese Community.

The occasion provided for informative and insightful dialogue on the important link between our communities. We discussed the economic, cultural and political aspects of our relationship whilst identifying a commitment to civil freedoms. Afterwards, we shared afternoon tea and I gave a personal tour of the Victorian Parliament.

I was grateful to have the opportunity to extend the ties of Waverley and our State with our honoured guests.
