The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is Australia’s national science agency. The CSIRO is at the cutting edge of scientific research worldwide and located within the South Eastern Metropolitan Innovation Precinct (SEMIP).
On Friday May 27th, I joined parliamentary colleagues, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and President of the Legislative Council for a unique behind-the-scenes tour of their facilities in Clayton.
The morning tour provided the opportunity to see first hand, the outstanding new technologies being developed at CSIRO Clayton. Throughout the morning, CSIRO professionals presented the research labs of the Cold Gas-Dynamic Spray technology, ‘flexible electronics’ and ‘T-Mag’ lightweight magnesium alloy castings.
These and many other projects which are being developed at CSIRO, have the potential to deliver innovative products for consumers within Australia and around the world. In an increasingly competitive world, the design and manufacture of innovative products is crucial for Australia.
