I’m pleased to announce a Victorian Liberal Nationals Government will build a new two-storey car park at Syndal railway station with space for a total of 590 cars, an increase of 250 spaces on the current available 340.
On top of Ted Baillieu’s announcement that every metropolitan and major country railway stations will have two Victoria Police Protective Services Officers patrolling from 6pm until the last train, seven days a week, this is a major boost for both the amenity and the safety of residents who travel from Syndal by train or bus.
The $6.5 million commitment would be very good news for train travellers, motorists and local residents.
At present with 340 free commuter spaces, the car park at Syndal station is usually full by 7.15am on weekdays. Searching unsuccessfully for a vacant spot takes time and results in travellers missing the train on which they had hoped to travel.
Increasing the number of car parking spaces to 590 will encourage more motorists to use the train and reduce the number of commuters’ cars parked in nearby residential streets.
