Frustration and delay will soon be a thing of the past for Monash residents; the level crossing at Springvale Station is to be eliminated with the introduction of the Springvale Road Grade Separation.
The Coalition Government has recently announced plans to eliminate the crossing by the end of 2014 in order to improve public safety and transport efficiency.
Grade Separation crossings will also be introduced at Mitcham Station and Rooks Road crossings as part of a total $350 million allocation.
With trains running from both the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, Springvale Station is particularly busy. The grade separation will improve efficiency and reliability for train passengers, as well as making the area safer for residents and local businesses near Springvale Road.
