Major works have recently been completed for a specialist Vocational Education and Training (VET) student accommodation precinct at Holmesglen TAFE – Waverley campus. The Victorian Minister for Housing recently visited Holmesglen TAFE Waverley Campus, to gain a firsthand look at the new facility.

The specialist VET precinct provides the opportunity for selected young people, aged between 16 and 25 years, to gain a VET place in areas of skills and industry need.

By providing these specialist VET accommodation facilities on-site, selected students will have a greater likelihood of completing the qualification and moving into industry.

The precinct will be supervised by staff 24-hours a day, seven days a week and will provide:

  • access to education, training and employment services
  • an opportunity to develop independent living skills
  • a safe, secure and affordable place to live while they study
  • support from trained staff

The Holmesglen Vocational College based at Waverley, will play a major role in supporting the students through education. Experienced staff will work with clients to facilitate the educational pathways for the journey to independence.

The specialist VET accommodation precinct is yet another project which seeks to maximise education opportunities in Waverley.

Interesting – but what are the skills training offered? It all seems rather vague to me.
