Responsible Gambling Awareness Week was held in May to raise awareness of the importance of a responsible approach to gambling at personal, venue and community level.

Held by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation since 2006, the week is an opportunity to highlight the challenges and available assistance in helping Victorians to enjoy gambling responsibly.

The week saw a number of events held around the State as well as the launch of the newly-developed Responsible Gambling Guide. The Guide tackles some of the myths and realities of gambling and support available for problem gambling.

The Responsible Gambling Guide is available at with a range of resources and information to support responsible gambling.

Commencing operation in 2012 as an independent statutory authority, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is the first of its kind in Australia. The Foundation delivers services to assist people affected by problem gambling and their friends and family and awareness campaigns.

The Foundation also collaborates with local and international researchers and organisations to deliver a meaningful program of research into gambling, aimed at informing and delivering effective prevention and intervention strategies and assisting support agencies such as Gambler’s Help to develop best practice services.

The research the Foundation undertakes is vital and if you would like further information including research reports and publications, visit
