Four buildings will be demolished and replaced and a further two buildings will be upgraded following the announcement of $1.3 million in maintenance funding by the Victorian Coalition Government.
Shortly after being elected to government, the Coalition was advised by the Education Department that a number of Victorian schools were in need of important maintenance works. To fully assess the needs and allocate funding, the Victorian Coalition Government commenced a thorough state-wide audit of school maintenance needs.
To address the schools most in need of urgent maintenance funding as identified as part of the audit process, the Education Minister Martin Dixon MP announced a pool of $51.5 million in funding would be allocated to undertake maintenance works at more than 200 schools.
Mt Waverley Secondary College was one of the schools that topped the list of schools in the most urgent need of funding and the allocation of $1.3 million will assist the school to significantly enhance the learning environment for students and teachers.
Funding of $668,172 was also allocated to Highvale Secondary College in Glen Waverley to undertake pressing maintenance works.
