Monash patients to have access to new medical equipment

April 20th, 2012 posted by

Last Sunday I was joined by the Minister for Health and Ageing Hon. David Davis MLC, at the Monash Medical Centre, to announce $3.97 million in additional funding for MonashHeart and Southern Health.

The importance of having access to localised and specialised health treatment services in Monash is crucial, as such this funding will allow for the purchase of a range of vital new specialised medical equipment.

Specialised, localised services can allow for more timely medical attention whilst also reducing the burden of health treatment on patient family members.

This new funding of $3.97 million is being provided under the 2011/12 Medical Equipment Program to assist Southern Health to provide the highest quality and safest care to Monash patients.

Such equipment may include larger cardiac catheter laboratories, ergonomic hospital beds, sterilising equipment, x-ray units and patient monitors.

This funding further builds on the Coalition Government’s commitment to deliver first class Monash health services including the $17.3 million Monash Link community health service redevelopment project in Glen Waverley and the $250 million Monash Children’s Hospital.
