Improved local sporting facilities are heading to Waverley through the redevelopment of Central Reserve.

Yesterday I joined Monash City Councillors, Richmond Cricket Club and Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club to turn the first sod of the Central Reserve redevelopment.

The redevelopment will include a new pavilion, improved cricket training areas and better ground access. As part of the redevelopment, the new pavilion will feature social club facilities, kitchen, home and away change rooms, umpires change rooms and equal access facilities. It will be home to Victorian Premier Cricket team Richmond Cricket Club, following their recent move to Monash in September, as well as Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club.

The redevelopment of Central Reserve Glen Waverley will improve facilities for local sporting teams, community organisations and cement Premier Cricket in Waverley.

It will also bring increased economic benefits to our community throughout the construction period and beyond.

The redevelopment is being funded and supported by the Victorian Coalition Government, Monash City Council, Richmond Cricket Club and the AFL.
