Michael grew up as one of four children in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. He was educated at Xavier College before completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University in Burwood and Masters in Accounting at Monash University in Clayton. It was at Deakin that Michael met his wife, Megan.
While at school and university, Michael worked several part-time jobs including as a pie seller at the MCG on the weekends, which further cemented his passion for football and provided him with some income whilst studying. In his spare time, Michael enjoys watching AFL, supporting local team the Waverley Blues and playing social lawn bowls at Glen Waverley Bowls Club. As a conservationist, Michael also enjoys utilising many of Waverley’s favourite trails such as Damper Creek and Scotchmans Creek to keep fit and experience Waverley’s natural environment.
Over the last decade, Michael has practised as a tax accountant and business development strategist predominately in the small and medium sized enterprise sector. As a local tax accountant in Waverley, Michael works closely with small and medium sized enterprises and individual taxpayers, helping them to grow and develop their businesses and improve their financial situation. In these roles, Michael has gained a strong understanding of the regulatory and financial challenges facing small and medium sized businesses and local residents.
As a lifelong resident of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and through his years living in Waverley, Michael has gained a unique understanding of the needs of Waverley, and is a strong and effective advocate for our community.
