The new Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Project has started to soar upwards with construction works hitting street level at the Parkville site.

The building structure is now one third complete, with work completed in the six basement levels that include car parking, plant and equipment and eight radiation therapy bunkers.

The $1 billion facility purpose-built for cancer research, treatment, care and education will provide a brand new home for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and new cancer research and clinical service space for Melbourne Health.

With construction of the project on time and on budget, the VCCC is expected to be operation in 2016.
